CREATIVE SCOTLAND

Creative Scotland is the national agency for Scotland’s arts, screen and creative industries.

Creative Scotland invests money, including National Lottery funds, in the development and promotion of Scotland’s screen industries via a range of initiatives, projects and activities designed to develop talent, audiences and businesses across the country. Investment strands include:

• Opportunities fund
• Digital Media IP fund
• Audience Development fund
• Market Development fund

MEDIA is a support programme of the European Union to strengthen the competitiveness of the European film, TV and new media industries and to increase the international circulation of European audiovisual product.

MEDIA 2007 commenced on 1 January 2007 and will run to 31 December 2013. With a budget of €755 million MEDIA 2007 supports professional training (screenwriting, business and new technologies), project development (single/slate), and the distribution and promotion of European audiovisual works.

Independent production and distribution companies can apply for development or distribution funding in the form of non-repayable grants. Financial assistance is available for training providers and organisers of markets and festivals. Individuals may also benefit from subsidised places on training courses and international markets.

UK FILM COUNCIL

The UK Film Council is the Government-backed lead agency for film in the UK ensuring that the economic, cultural and educational aspects of film are effectively represented at home and abroad.

FUNDING UKFC funds script development, film production, short films, film export and distribution, cinemas, film education, culture and archives, festivals and audience support schemes. For details, visit UK Film Council.
